Full-Time in Lisbon, PT - Senior - Joom

Joom currently includes the following businesses: Joom Marketplace, a platform for shopping from all over the world; Onfy, a pharmaceutical marketplace in Germany; JoomPro, a tech enabled turnkey solution for B2B importing goods from China, and Joom Pulse, data platform that provides analytics and recommendations for marketplace sellers. Joom’s offices are located in Latvia, China, Hong Kong, the USA, Germany, Brazil and Portugal. Joom Group has HQ in Lisbon, Portugal.

We are currently looking for a Senior ML developer to join the Market Intelligence team: working with product content and assortment, comparing products, improving product description translations, and identifying promising products and market segments. Tech stack: Go, Python, Scala, Spark, PyTorch, Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, MongoDB, Cassandra, Kafka, Jenkins.

The role involves not only data analysis, hypothesis creation, modeling, and experimentation but also writing production code capable of handling high loads.

Responsibilities

  • Strong algorithmic skills: knowledge of fundamental algorithms and data structures, as well as their implementation in standard libraries
  • Proficiency in Java, C++, or Python: experience in developing and debugging distributed, high-load applications, and writing testable code
  • Industry experience in Machine Learning: familiarity with key modeling and training approaches (linear models, GBDT, DNN, etc.), knowledge of statistics, and end-to-end ML development experience, including raw data analysis, hypothesis formulation, model creation, experimentation, and deploying results into production

Preferred

  • Experience in developing recommendation or search systems
  • Experience training neural network models
  • Experience working with various data sources: Spark, Cassandra, Mongo, Kafka
  • Knowledge of Kotlin and Go
