We are seeking an experienced Payments Lawyer to join our international legal team. This role will involve providing legal support for Joom’s global payments structure, including managing contracts and compliance, working closely with payment partners, and staying up-to-date with international payment legislation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international law, a business-focused approach, and an ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic and diverse environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the payments infrastructure across Joom’s Group companies
- Review contracts and conduct negotiations with payment partners
- Provide compliance support for payment partner assessments
- Conduct legal research on payment legislation across different countries
- Assess counterparties and their ownership structures in terms of sanctions
- Draft, update, and maintain agreements, policies, procedures, letters, and other documents
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in legal support for international structures, with a specific focus on payments
- Strong expertise in payment systems, including acquiring, payment processing, and working with payment service providers
- Experience in obtaining EMI (Electronic Money Institution) and PI (Payment Institution) licenses
- Ability to quickly navigate new business situations and diverse areas of international law
- Business-oriented approach with a focus on minimizing bureaucracy
- Fluent English
Preferred
- Experience in corporate law
- Background in payment companies or familiarity with PSD2, payment system rules, and PCI DSS standards
- Experience working in international IT companies
