Payroll Specialist

Full-Time in Lisbon, PT

Joom currently includes the following businesses: Joom Marketplace, a platform for shopping from all over the world; Onfy, a pharmaceutical marketplace in Germany; JoomPro, a platform for cross-border wholesale trade. Joom’s offices are located in Latvia, China, Hong Kong, the USA, Germany, Brazil, and Portugal.

Now we are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our global team at our headquarter in Lisbon.

Responsibilities

  • Standardise payroll process across for processing, accounting & payments
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings and company deductions
  • Ensure delivery of net pay, 3rd party payments (such as social security, benefits contributions, pension etc.) or payroll funding as required
  • Interact and coordinate with government agencies such as social insurance agencies, financial authorities, labor agency or others as required for payroll related matters
  • Archive and keep up to date payroll records and reconciliation reports after each payroll run
  • Perform quarterly accounts reconciliations and year-end activities
  • Support all payroll related audits
  • Ensure compliance to national legislation, internal controls and guidelines
  • Support for payroll forecasting and budgeting

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with a thorough understanding of accounting standards and principles in Portugal
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and financial systems
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Fluent Portuguese and English
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred

  • Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
